We do this by meeting periodically in large and small social settings to consider topics of interest to those seeking to live their faith. Every man is welcome to participate. The March Men's Breakfast on Saturday Mar 7th 2020 "Sacrament of Holy Orders – WHAT’S UP WITH THAT: A Deacon's VIEW"
...was a fun, enlightenting and delicious morning featuring our parish's neighbor Deacon Tom Stauffacher of Ascension Church.
Deacon Tom shared a bit about what the calling and ministry of a deacon is about and how that same calling and ministry is what we are called toward exercising in our own lives. He shared and compared, sometimes in a quite humorous way, how we all share in the task of discipleship and service, whether Bishop, Priest, Deacon or Lay Person. He broke our understanding down to Vocation, Temperment, Holiness, Sacrament, Priorities, and Life Style. Everyone seemed to go having learned something new and was filled with interest which inspired sharing with the other brothers in attendance. If you missed this, so sorry. It was a great morning.
Back from the 2020 Men's Retreat on Jan 24-26
Sorry we missed you at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center for the retreat “Eucharist: Blessed & Broken ~ Shared & Sent“. Although my brothers from St John's were not there, my brothers from Ascension and a number of other parishes shared together a remarkable experience. This was the first time I attended at OLOF. So glad I did. It is a blessed place to find time for you and God; to be renewed, healed, strengthened, loved and challenged. What a remarkable experience I had. Perhaps next time we can get a dozen and a half men together like Ascension did. The next annual Men's retreat for St John's is scheduled for January 29-31, 2021. There are also other opportunities to take part at OLOF. They offer a number of different types of retreats; men's, women's, couples, silent, scripture, charismatic, healing, centered prayer, and more. For more information you can visit their website at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center or email SJE Men's Discipleship from the bottom of this page.
December's Men's Night with Adventure Catholic - Psalm 23 Became So Much More Meaningful
Our new friends Alan Migliorato & Darryl Dziedzic shared with us a new insight into what the Psalmist David expressed as God's reassurance and promise of His guidance, care and leadership for us in Psalm 23.
It was an evening in God's hands for sure. The 12/02/19 presentation seemed to resonate with the men. It was very relatable to all of us, giving some new insight to how God works in our lives and the hope and mercy He extends to us even when we do not realize it. Seeing us as the lambs was enlightening and encouraging. The example God gives us to form our relationships and impart the same love and care to others became much clearer. Thank you, Alan and Darryl, for a meaningful, thought provoking and enjoyable evening. While it is available, see their website for a shout-out of thanks to St John's for hosting Alan, Darryl and their message.
2019 Live4More Conference 9/28/19 at HNJ - Great Blessing, Great Turnout, Great Success
With nearly 200 attending from nearly all of the parishes in Brevard, the great speakers and their messages, the good fellowship and shared brotherhood, the morning proved quite fruitful and rewarding. The conference theme of 'Living as Sons of God' come out of the talks. Fr Ben Lehnertz lead us through understanding how to live and experience the Beatitudes through our human challenges as we aspire toward our own sainthoods. We also heard Fr Blake Britton tell about the challenges and importance of maintaining our masculinity in a world fighting to erase it. God intends for us to work together, man and woman, with our own strengths and weaknesses, allowing our respective natures and synergies to help build our lives in holiness.
We also heard several times of the importance of establishing relationships with those who help us along our faithful journey. It is important to have those around us to support us when we experience those challenges of faith and celebrate with us the joyful times and share in those moments of praise and thanksgiving. Live4More Small groups, our small christian communities of faithful men, well serves such a need. Pray, think, and act on starting or joining a group. Each group takes on a unique profile. It serves and ministers to those involved. It supports its members and knows its needs. It empowers us to be examples and evangelists to others. It helps keep our focus on the Living God in our lives. Contact us to get started.
Considering a Men's Small Group? With the coming Men's Conference in September, there will be opportunity to find a respective group. We will be having signups available at the conference for both St Johns & Holy Name parishes. Other parishes are invited to do the same. Be sure to stop by the Live4More table to find out more about these small christian communities and what they offer to enhance our call and empower us as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For those of you who have or wish to sign up for Small Groups, we are continually working on recruiting members, gathering materials and organizing groups and interests. If you have not already communicated your interest, please do so in email or using the Information Link from this page to forward your preference. Groups may take many different forms from bible study to directed theme programs to discussion of Christian literature to sharing on The Daily Word and Sunday Readings to simple prayer with discussion...you name it. Some ideas for materials can be found on the RESOURCES page (see link header above).
Remember, SMALL GROUPS may be an option and way to provide the spiritual support group we have talked about at our events. Let us know you are interested and we can help get you started.
